"Treated with respect in ED"

About: Albany Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I brought my teenager to ED after they fell off their skateboard.

ED was quite busy and their injury did not require urgent attention. We were prepared for a long wait as we also followed an ambulance on the drive in to the hospital. The staff were kind and friendly and efficient and we got to see a doctor within about half an hour. The doctor (Tom) was very thorough and was particularly skilled at addressing all my parental concerns and also engaging with my teenager in a relaxed and respectful manner. Although it was busy, we didn't feel rushed and I appreciated the time he spent explaining to my teenager the benefits of wearing a helmet without being condescending or judgemental.  The whole visit took only 45 minutes and we left feeling reassured. It was a positive experience.
