"My doctor refused to give any treatment for my heart condition."

About: GPs in the Herbert Electoral District

(as the patient),

I have been seeing a doctor at a Townsville Medical Centre since the start of this year for high blood pressure and other illnesses. Recently, when checking my pulse I noticed it seemed irregular. Mt spouse who is a nurse agreed it was irregular. I went to see my doctor who said that I had an ECG 6 months ago and all was fine so it was impossible that there was an irregular pulse.

They said using fingers to check my wrist pulse was inaccurate so there was no issue. I asked if they would check it and they said no. The doctor would not check my pulse in any way, not via touch, stethoscope or ECG. I pointed out that my spouse is a nurse and shares my belief that my pulse is irregular. Still a flat refusal to offer what I feel is the most basic check-up. I was their last patient for the day.

I left panicked that there was an undiagnosed problem. My doctor has me on a low dose of Lexapro to help me with anxiety over my current illnesses. I went for a second opinion the next day and an ECG showed that I have pre-ventricular contractions (heart arrhythmia). The new doctor has altered my medications and I am getting a blood test to check my salt levels. How can a doctor flat out refuse to do the most basic thing of checking my pulse when I had a complaint of heart arrhythmia. This really happened.
