"Rehabilitation experience"

About: Osborne Park Hospital / Department of Rehabilitation Medicine (DRM)

(as the patient),

It's been a little over 5 months since my knee injury (dislocation, full tears to MCL, PCL and Meniscus with a partial tear to ACL)

I have now had 2 surgeries, first to repair ligament and meniscal damage and most recent surgery, to correct quite an extensive scar tissue (arthrofibrosis) and a cyclops like lesion. It was a successful second surgery (Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Antony)

Starting now, I am and will be treated by the Rehabilitation/Physiotherapy Team at Osborne Park Hospital, this was visit number 1. I have got to say, day 1 Physio, impressed! I was greeted warmly and tended to promptly, despite being a busy morning.

As a Health, Fitness & Wellness Coach, I take great care to ensure my clients and team feel well cared for and heard. I prefer to take a holistic approach to medicine, believing in an integrative approach, treating the person as a whole being, using evidence-based strategy, modern medicine and a supportive healthy diet and lifestyle to treat any form of ill or poor health, symptoms or injury.

This very approach was exactly how my visit was handled and of course, my response to this was a positive one! I was asked about each surgery, the aftercare, how I felt and did I feel supported, how I was feeling mentally and physically and what I am hoping to achieve post-op.

I also happened to be their first patient to try out their new SciFit ISO Upright Bike, it was brilliant! I had not rotated my legs since earlier this year.

It is a brilliant piece of rehabilitation equipment, I think is essential to any rehabilitation centre.

I have attempted to rotate on a standard exercise bike at home, however, because I do not yet have the range/ability to do so at this time, the SciFit Bike made it possible for me to do so. I am looking forward to my next visit and left feeling confident about my plan to full recovery.

Dear Janet,

A pleasure to share my feedback. I know it often happens to be more common to receive negative feedback before positive in so many fields across the board.

I continue to receive very good care that stemmed from my admission into Osbourne Park Hospital for my surgery, the nursing care and continued rehabilitation I am receiving each week.

Thank you.
