I recently had an appointment at the Diabetic Clinic at SCGH. On entrance to the reception, I was greeted by the lovely receptionist who was sitting in front of the windows overlooking an outside area.
The windows were thick with spiders and cobwebs which indicated to me that, in my opinion, they had not been cleaned for at least a year. I say a year as I certainly didn’t notice them on my last yearly appointment. I mentioned this to the receptionist and who stated that budget cuts had resulted in a lack of outside maintenance being done. When I entered my endocrinologist office I noticed that their windows were also in the same state.
I know that the outpatients' appointments are in the old part and (I feel) rundown section of the hospital but this doesn’t alter the care we receive. However, surely the state government can afford to put more money towards or reinstate outside window maintenance. It really does make you feel very uncomfortable, especially when you have arachnophobia like I do!
