"My new life and new reality and gratitude."

About: Angliss Community Rehabilitation Centre

(as a service user),

Early this year, my life was turning for the worst without me knowing. That day my beautiful son was found unconscious in their bedroom and taken to a different hospital. Because of the Coronavirus, I couldn't go to see him.

My son died without regaining consciousness. My son was in their 50s. I felt empty. I couldn't function. I was in a very deep, dark pit without air. I thought that my life couldn't get worst but I was wrong because it did.

Four months after my son died and was cremated and his unit cleaned and his things dispersed, I had a stroke and was in the Box Hill Hospital. After the hospital, two people looking from a science-fiction movie, arrive to my life. It didn't take me long to realise that I have the best team of professionals.

At Angliss Hospital, Anthony PT and Katie OT with a lot of knowledge, expertise, caring and an incredible amount of patience, showed me a path to keep on living. Still, I am empty without my son but slowly I am learning to live what is left of my life. Thank you, Anthony and Katie. Thank you so much. I will never forget you.

Dear aquilafz38,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and my sincerest condolences for the loss of your son. I can only imagine the pain this would have caused and continues to be felt each and every day.

I really appreciate the acknowledgement you have given to the staff and teams across Eastern Health, both at our Box Hill Hospital and also Angliss Hospital campuses and in particular the efforts of Anthony and Katie. It will give me pleasure to share your comments with them.

It sounds to me that the Eastern Health values of Patients First, Kindness, Respect, Excellence, Agility and Humility were clearly on display as the teams supported you not only with your physical recovery but also emotionally.

Please continue to take care of yourself as your life assumes a new normal.

Best wishes and kind regards,

David
