Having a parent that was diagnosed schizophrenic when I was a child, I have been exposed to mental illness since I was 12 and I was a carer for over 15 years until my parent was able to self manage.
I have been very open to sharing my story with many people as well as the tools and techniques I found worked with my family and now as a life coach, the things I have found that worked with my clients.
Recently I was called by a client because their in-law had spent 5 days isolated in their room and from what my client described sounded like they were having a psychotic episode.
It had been over a decade since my own parent had been in a state that required help and I was unsure what the process is. I called Melody as I had met Mel and really loved her passion for mental health.
Mel was able to help explain the process and asked to talk directly with my client. Mel called them and the next day my client called me and was so very grateful for the advice Mel was able to give. My client said they were able to get their in-law to hospital without incident and into the care they needed.
I have nothing but great things to say about Mel, her work is simply amazing and hopefully she is able to continue working with the community and share her knowledge.
Thank you Mel, you are a wonderful resource and someone I wish was around when my parent was unwell.
"Wonderful help"
