"Very disappointed"

About: Blacktown Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

Almost a year after my delivery still affected by the traumatic experience mentally and physically. Student midwives in both shifts. The senior midwife was not around as much. I overheard them telling junior midwife they were enjoying the chat with another couple.

The doctor was in and out until the last min, worst is the midwife and doctor were arguing if I should push or wait till later to start pushing and I believe the junior midwife is caught between the two.

I pushed for over 6 hours. Although my discharge summary says another time! I understand I should not be pushing more than 2 hrs ideally.

3rd degree - d perennial tear. We asked for c-section but was told the baby is too low to do it (recently read abt ot issues), also lost 800ml of blood waiting for OT to be available to do the surgery. Also had to wait for 1.5 hr for an epidural.

Aftercare by other midwives was good for a few days after the incident!
