My ex-spouse is quite ill with diabetes and spent a week in ICU whilst they tried to work out what was causing their various complaints, including high blood pressure, headaches etc.
After this, with no real answers, they were moved back to the ward. They had a shower and fell asleep in there. I believe not one doctor or nurse checked on them during this time.
They were then sent home, in my opinion, prematurely, with a discharge notice 14 pages long, but no discussion on what to expect or how to manage their abilities.
I believe there has been no support for their child who was there on a daily basis.
