"Suggestions for the recovery ward"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / PB1W - General Rehabilitation Unit

(as a friend),

My friend had a stroke recently and is perfectly fine. However, they are in the recovery ward and they can’t read, but they are perfectly capable of walking around. It’s just that they can’t read the signs and are unable to find their way around. I also feel like this ward is virtually underground – just 4 walls and opaque windows which makes it very boring. My suggestion is that the recovery ward should be located on the top floor or level that has a view, either some greenery or ocean view which I’m sure will assist with the patient’s recovery, rather than being underground.

Other than that, they have been well looked after, the clinical care has been fantastic.

Dear triangulumwk85,

Firstly, I am very pleased to read that your friend is recovering well from their stroke. I also would like to thank you for taking the time to provide feedback to us via Care Opinion.

As a result of your comments, we have arranged for the opaque films to be removed to allow more light to enter and enabling a better view from the windows. The ward also has a garden balcony, which had been closed during the Covid-19 restrictions. As the rules are relaxing, we have reopened this area, which will allow our patients to enjoy some greenery and fresh air.

I was pleased to read your kind comments regarding our staff and the clinical care they provided to your friend. We have passed your positive comments to the staff.

We really appreciate the feedback and hope that as a result, we have made some small improvements which will improve our patients' experience in our rehabilitation unit.

Warm Regards,

Natalie
