"Covid testing information privacy"

About: Joondalup Health Campus

(as a service user),

I went for a Covid-19 test at Joondalup Health Campus. In the waiting room (which had capacity for about 20 other people). They made me call a phone number where an operator asked me for personal information that I had to give back out loud.

This information included:

My full name

My date of birth

My address

My next-of-kin

I overheard many others giving their information to this operator. I feel like this is something that can be done beforehand before arriving at the clinic, totally unnecessary for this to be done in public. Or even better, this could be a web-form that I could've opened on my phone and filled in information.

Dear slideec55,

Thank you for providing your feedback on the Care Opinion site. I acknowledge your concerns regarding the potential for others to overhear personal information being provided when attending the Covid clinic at Joondalup Health Campus (JHC).

The Covid clinic at JHC was relocated into a demountable on Friday 5 February, and I understand you attended the clinic within a couple of days of the move. Following your feedback, it is reinforced to everyone attending the clinic that they have the option to use the cubicles available when providing personal information, which is required prior to a swab being taken.

Thank you for your helpful suggestions and I will forward these to the relevant people for further consideration.

We are very grateful for feedback as this allows us the opportunity to review and improve the services we provide.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss your concerns further, please do not hesitate to contact our consumer liaison service on 08 9400 9672 or email consumerliaison.jhc@ramsayhealth.com.au

Yours sincerely,

Paul Taylor-Byrne

Acting Deputy Director of Clinical Services

Joondalup Health Campus
