General staff at RPH are usually awesome, kind and responsive. However, in my opinion, discharge nurses are beyond the words of ridiculous and appalling behaviour! My spouse had day surgery for the second time and both times, I believe they have been mistreated by certain discharge nurses. This time I was also affected by this behaviour and I think it’s time something is done about it.
Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of the nurse, nor can I seem to get further information from staff about them. However, I can only describe their self-presentation and what I feel is ugly behaviour and I hope you could do the research!
Although I was there to collect my spouse, this nurse of concern would not let me in with “worrying face”, so they forcefully, I felt, grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the room several times refusing me the right to see my partner (100% misconduct I think). I feel this was very unusual as I’ve never experienced such treatment.
Soon after that, I feel they forcefully insisted on pulling vomit bag out of my hands (several times) as I’d been given by another beautiful nurse also in charge (I believe her name was Ruth, also registered nurse) as my partner was feeling very nauseous and dizzy. Every time I was given vomit bag by other nurses to have it in the car during transport back home, the nasty nurse would have torn it out of my hands without any apology!
Unbelievable, unspeakable behaviour in my opinion! Furthermore, in my opinion, they literally kicked my partner out of bed while still in bad condition (half-unconscious) and caused them huge pain before entering the car. No discharge paperwork nor further information on pain treatment at home!
