"Family Birth centre"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Antenatal Clinic, Birth Suite, Maternal Fetal Assessment Unit, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit, Wards 3B, 3C, 3D, 3DO, Visiting Midwife Service

(as a service user),

We are so grateful we were able to access the Family Birth Centre at FSH, are highly recommending it to friends and will hopefully come again!

There were a few things that really stood out to us as making a difference to our care, and that we were specially grateful for in the public system. The continuity of care from the same clinician, flexibility of appointment times, and ease of contact with our midwife felt very patient-centered and helped us build a wonderful relationship with our midwife Kristie. Although I can see there would be challenges, I can also see how beneficial this approach to care would be for higher-risk patients and do think it's a shame the access is limited.

I also wanted to acknowledge the respect and teamwork that we noticed, and appreciated within the FBC team. Over the course of our care we met several midwives- all were complimentary of each other's care, and seemed to go out of their way to support each other. I also had an appointment with an Obstetrician who also commented how wonderful the FBC care was. It was wonderful to hear they are supportive as well.

Thank you very much for this service that has given us the best possible start to parenthood!

Dear controlleryz44,

Congratulations on the birth of your new baby. Thank you for taking the time at this special and busy period in your life to share your experience with the Fiona Stanley Family Birth Centre (FBC).

The FBC strives to provide a holistic approach to your care and we are extremely proud of how our teams work together to achieve this. I will ensure Kristy and the team are aware of your feedback.

We acknowledge the requirement for high-risk women to be able to access this continuity of care model and I know the teams are working towards a model that will address these issues.

I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Kind regards,

Neil Doverty
