I recently had appointments with Mary, one of the IBCLCs at the Breastfeeding Centre at King Edward Memorial Hospital. Having had difficulty feeding my first baby three years ago, I was anxious when I started having issues with painful feeding and low supply.
In my appointments with Mary, she displayed a wealth of knowledge in all things breastfeeding and helped me rule out a number of issues that could be impacting me and my baby. She was professional, warm and supportive. She repeatedly told me I was doing a great job and offered different suggestions, always checking if I was comfortable and happy with the plan going forward.
When I decided I would start mix feeding, she was still supportive, reminding me that I can only do what I can do, and once again that I was doing a great job.
Just like with my first baby, the service from the Lactation Consultants at the Breastfeeding Centre was invaluable. I would not still be breastfeeding without their knowledge, help and support. Thank you, Mary!
