"Intense care when I had a heart attack"

About: Royal Perth Hospital / Cardiology Care & Clinic Wyalkatchem-Koorda Health Service / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

It was recently - my birthday when I had a severe heart attack. I did not think it was a heart attack and considered that as stomach indigestion while was having severe pain, sweating and vomiting. It was early morning and I rushed back to home and asked my mate to quickly drop me at the Wyalkatchem Koorda Hospital since I was unable to drive.

The moment I reported to the hospital, I was taken by the staff, particularly Ms Princy, Sam, Raelene, Doctor on video call. I was vomiting and in severe pain in the centre of my chest.

Wyalkatchem Koorda Hospital immediately organised RFDS (Royal Flying Doctor Service), SJA and Mr. Paul was the focal person to take me by air ambulance for immediate treatment in RPH (Royal Perth Hospital).

RPH nurses, doctors and Cardiologist Dr. Jon took care of me. I was kept at RPH for a week and I came back with new life.

I cannot thank you enough for the care and wish to place on record my deepest appreciation for the same.

Dear empathymj47,

Thank you for your great feedback regarding your unexpected presentation to the Wyalkatchem Hospital emergency Department.

The team at Wyalkatchem work hard to provide responsive quality care to any person who attends the hospital and I’m pleased to hear that this was the case for you.

The use of emergency telehealth has assisted us in improving the way in which we can deliver care quickly, and closer to home for our community. At a small country hospital, it is important that situations such as yours are dealt with in a timely manner to give such a positive outcome.

I will pass on your kind words to the nursing team including Princy, Sam and Raelene.

I hope that you have now recovered well, and I wish you the best for the future.

Kind Regards

Karen Horsley
