"Emergency Department"

About: Westmead Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My child, who is a young adult, was sent to Westmead Emergency Department by their GP because their heart rate and blood pressure needed monitoring. My child has anorexia.

When they were seen by the emergency doctor, they complimented my child on the amount of sit-ups that they could do each day and commented on my child's "thinness. "

This made me feel so angry. In my opinion, doctors need to be educated that you can't comment on body size or exercise for people with anorexia.  They also left my child for eight hours without any food. When you are trying for weight restoration, meeting all your meals is really important. I was very frustrated by the care on this evening.
