"Excellent care received"

About: Glenarm Nursing Home Kerang Hospital / Acute Ward

(as a relative),

Our elderly mother became critically ill and was transferred from Glenarm to the Acute hospital. The staff on duty, Tania, Tess from Acute Ward and Kat from Glenarm saved her life. In my opinion, their care of mum was second to none. During the whole event the family was kept well informed and as well as caring for mum they also cared for our emotional and physical needs with comfort and cups of tea.

At change of shift I felt the new staff were equally as amazing; Courtney and Dana. Dr Tobi was caring for mum and he also explained everything to us.

During the day every treatment option was always explained and we were never a bother. I believe mum was always treated with the utmost respect and her needs attended to promptly and efficiently. Amazing sandwiches were given to us for lunch and we were very grateful.

Mum is slowly regaining strength and as a family we are very grateful for all that was done.

Dear Amazing care,

Thank you very much for taking the time to tell us about your mother's recent experience in the Acute Ward. I am very pleased to hear that your mother is slowly regaining her strength.

Our staff take our organisation's values of Care, Accountability, Respect and Excellence very seriously so it is very pleasing to hear that you felt the staff displayed these values through their work while looking after your mother.

It is pleasing to hear that the staff including the Dr, effectively communicated what was happening with your mother, and that your family and your mother were included in the decision making process regarding your mother's care.

I am glad to hear that the staff also cared for your emotional needs as a family, as seeing a loved one unwell can be very distressing.

Our Catering and Domestic team pride themselves on the food they provide, so I will make sure your praise is passed on to them.

I will also make sure that your thanks and praise is passed on to the Acute staff and Dr Tobi.

Kind regards,

Megan Simmonds
