"Middle finger surgery after infection"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / 2 West & Hand Clinic Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / Day Procedure Unit (DPU - 1 West)

(as the patient),

I had finger surgery a couple of months ago due to a rugby league injury. I had a K wire internally put into my finger for support and to allow the fracture to fix. As I understand it, K wires are suggested to be inside for 4-6 weeks. I was unfortunate and gained a serious infection in the hardware in my finger as I had the K wire in the finger for 10+ weeks.

The strain from this was challenging. Having to suffer my wages and medical expenses was tough. In my opinion, a particular MO though, in this case, really didn't adhere to their qualities. When presenting to the hospital with the infection, I felt Dr Matt and colleagues treated me with utmost respect and understood my frustration and distress.

In my opinion, the nurses of both 1 west and 2 west were simply amazing. Specifically the two nurses Sumalee and DJ. They made my short stay bearable. From the nursing staff to the domestic services and few select Doctors and MOs, I thank you.
