"Podiatry Team"

About: Albany Health Campus / Podiatry

(as the patient),

I have been attending AHC Podiatry for many months for a diabetic toe injury.

I have the greatest pleasure in recommending this department for the care provided, the professional manner in which they handled my case and Tep's attention to detail which has saved my toe from amputation due to gangrene.

Tep and co have been very helpful with wound care and given clear instructions for wound care between visits.

10 out of 10 to this team.

In my opinion, this team do an amazing job but don’t seem to have a real location within the campus so I believe they need more funding and a specialty area.

I also feel that improved parking would help to reduce the walking for mobility challenged patients.

I believe the podiatry service is doing an amazing job as first stated, but facility management is the restriction.

Dear Sflechieroz,

Thank you for posting on Care Opinion. The Allied Health team at Albany Hospital work extremely hard and it's wonderful when they receive positive feedback about their services from consumers. I am also relieved to hear your toe has healed and an amputation was not necessary.

Yes, we are very fortunate to have two passionate and experienced podiatrists working within our team. Tsepo and Julie offer a high-risk diabetic podiatry clinic and are strong advocates for all their patients. I will be sure to forward this compliment to the team; they will be very pleased.

With regards to podiatry infrastructures, the podiatry service has grown exponentially over the past two years and we now have two treatment rooms, including an orthotic workshop. The team have also just recently commenced an alternate weekly Multidisciplinary foot clinic with medical and surgical leads to support more comprehensive care for complex presentations. They are demonstrating wonderful results.

The Health Campus is also aware of the issues regarding parking and access. Due to current constructions of the radiation oncology unit, access to parking continues to be a challenge. Once the radiation oncology unit is completed, we hope some of the pressure on access will improve. The hospital has recently developed another 70 bay car park however current construction is impacting on this somewhat.

Once again, I would like to thank you for your positive comments and would welcome any further discussions on how we can improve our service. Please feel free to contact me, Joanne Clark, on 9892 2464 should you wish to discuss further.

Best wishes
