My story is about my darling auntie. I became her carer and she had multiple medical issues.
In my opinion, the staff in the emergency department were wonderful and they were right onto it.
Twice my darling auntie was admitted to the medical ward and, I feel, the nurses are amazing there. They made sure she was comfortable, pain free, and safe from falls out of bed by putting her into a bed that could be lowered to the floor. At one stage a nurse was sitting in her room 24/7.
Unfortunately, on her second visit to the medical ward she passed away.
The Drs on that night rang me, and were completely compassionate and even rang on the drive back to the hospital to make sure I was ok.
On arrival to the medical ward the beautiful nurses put their arms around me and guided me to her room. They all became like friends after a few weeks being on that ward.
I felt the Dr was wonderful waiting in her room and he explained everything that had happened and what to expect.
The nurses were there at every bell press. I believe compassion was their middle names, they made sure I had what ever I needed to drinks biscuits etc as I waited for my auntie to pass from this world.
4 hrs later she was gone. The nurses again were just amazing, they let me sit with her for a few more hrs, let family members in at 5am to see her and the care we received was over and beyond anything I had seen before.
We all hugged before leaving. I brought them flowers and a card a week later to thank them all.
