"Access to the hospital"

About: Kununurra Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

After seeing all the new footpaths go up around Kununurra it made me realise how hard I feel it is to access the hospital.

There are no paths leading to the hospital whatsoever - it seems you have to walk on the grass and road. In my experience, it makes it very hard for prams/wheelchair access.

Are there plans to make some nice paths like, in my opinion, the rest of the town?

Hi Parent with a pram,

Thank-you for taking the time to write to us about access to the hospital and for asking us about our plans.

Some of the areas you are referring to are health property, and some areas are Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley verges. Following your query I have contacted the shire and commenced discussions around working together on access solutions to the hospital. Collaborating with our partners is a WA Country Health Service’s priority, and we are very keen to show our commitment to the community and our relationship with other service providers.

We encourage consumer engagement and given you have raised this with us it would be great if you could be involved in the outcome.

My name is Keda Bond and I am the Operations Manager for the Kununurra Hospital. If you would like to be involved in the outcome or request updates on our progress please contact me on 0408944305.

I will also post our plans for change on the Care Opinion web site for others who may be experiencing the same access issues to be aware of the progress.

Thank-you again and I hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards,

Keda Bond
