"My first NAIDOC event"

About: Lives Lived Well - Cairns

(as a service user),

I enjoyed the NAIDOC Celebration. Happy to see a smoking ceremony. I felt comfortable and I felt welcome there. Something happened inside of me, I felt as if I was happy and I wanted to cry too.

It was my first NAIDOC Celebration. I'm normally hiding at home and I am a almost 50 years old and an Aboriginal person. I hope it happens again, I would come again.

Hello learningzp63,

Thank you for your comments about the Lives Lived Well NAIDOC celebration in Cairns and attending your first NAIDOC event. Your comments are very powerful and beautiful. I think something happened inside me too, as I read your comments. I am glad you enjoyed the smoking ceremony, that you felt welcome and comfortable, and also a cry.

It is never to late to do something for the first time and I find it inspiring that you were able to come out from your home and enjoy your first NAIDOC celebration. I hope you can attend more.

I wish you all the best and acknowledge you as an Aboriginal person.

Warm regards

Gerard
