Over the last year the Persistent Pain team at Prince of Wales hospital, Randwick has been helping me live with chronic pain as a result of ongoing back problems.
I attended an excellent 12 week course which helps you understand chronic pain and develop tools to manage it. There have also been additional courses on exercise, mindfulness and meditation.
I believe the team has been amazing - deeply knowledgeable, committed and compassionate. Always at hand to give one-on-one support. This year has been a game changer for me. I’ve gone from fear of what the future holds and reliance on many pain medications, to a calmer acceptance of my disability and the confidence that I can nevertheless find joy in my life.
