"Midwife lead care at King Eddies"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I was lucky enough to receive ongoing care and support during my pregnancy and labour by the MGP5 team at King Edwards Memorial Hospital (KEMH).

I had a fairly challenging pregnancy with 20 weeks of nausea and 20 weeks of managing gestational diabetes, followed by a long labour that involved a 3-day induction process, 18 hours of active labour ending in an emergency C-section.

With all that said, I truly enjoyed the end to end care of the service offered by the MGP5 team. I had one midwife (Caitlin) that followed me from around week 16 through to delivery. I would see her regularly throughout my pregnancy as well as meet some other midwives in the team, I was also given support from a dietitian to help manage my GDM as well as the team's Doctors when required.

Caitlin provided a very genuine and thorough service, I found she was excellent at providing all the facts and information that allowed my husband and I to make informed decisions throughout my pregnancy and labour.

Caitlin was there to break my waters and stayed with me for a 10 hour shift while I laboured, she then went home to get some sleep and returned just in time to hold my hand as I was wheeled into the operating room, cancelling her plans for work that day to ensure I had her by my side, in my opinion, you cant expect better service than that!
