"My child's leg surgery at PCH"

About: Perth Children's Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter had an accident at school a few months ago, where she broke her leg. I can’t imagine the pain as she cried and cried but she cannot say how painful it was because she is autistic with minimal words only. And so, we brought her to PCH. We were just grateful beyond words at how the staff from the emergency reception, the nurses both day and night shift who checked on Jewel, to the Specialist, Colin and lastly, to the Surgeon, Matthew. Everything went well, the next day, we were discharged. Thank you, PCH!

Dear lacertahj57,

Thank you for writing to Care Opinion to share your positive experience at Perth Children’s Hospital.

I am very sorry to hear that your daughter experienced the pain of a broken leg and we completely understand the stress and concern of a parent when their child is in pain; particularly of a child who is unable to communicate. We are extremely happy to hear that our staff were able to alleviate some of this stress from you and your daughter.

The Child and Adolescent Health Service staff are encouraged to live our six core values of Accountability, Excellence, Respect, Equity, Collaboration and Compassion each day. We are delighted to hear that these were demonstrated during your recent experience.

Feedback such as yours is pivotal in encouraging and supporting our staff, so thank you for taking the time to let us know.

We hope your daughter is recovering well and wish you and your family all the best in the future.
