I had a mostly great experience at Armadale Hospital maternity several months ago. From the lovely ladies in the clinic to my birth and beyond. I felt supported and empowered. Having had a traumatic experience at a private hospital several years back, this was a healing experience. My baby required help with breathing for a short time in the baby unit and Tracey and Chantal were great explaining procedures to me and were very supportive of my wish to breastfeed when I had failed previously. The ladies in the assessment area and birth room, Melissa and Julie were funny and lightened the mood as I was quite anxious. The ladies on the ward after my baby was born were so friendly, especially Nina and Emily.
Unfortunately, I also encountered some that dismissed me and seemed disinterested in giving care. I found one person blunt and seemingly not interested in spending time answering questions and I felt a burden.
The kitchen ladies were all very cheery and polite when entering my room. I feel I will choose Armadale again for my next birth providing I can avoid the person I encountered who I felt was a bad egg.
