"Misinformation online"

About: Jurien Bay Health Centre

(as a parent/guardian),

Our child has croup and needed steroids in the middle of the night on our holiday in Jurien Bay, two hours north of Perth. I recall that when we googled Jurien Bay hospital, the number that came up on google went to voice mail and said the clinic was open 9-5pm.

As non locals we presumed this was correct and then called an ambulance. When the paramedics arrived I think the first thing they said was that google was wrong, the clinic is open 24 hours.

We ended up taking our child to the clinic ourselves and felt I wasted the paramedics time in the middle of the night and received a bill for $500 for ambulance transport. We were encouraged to write our feedback here as otherwise nothing changes - I believe google has wrongly linked the medical centre to the results when you google Jurien Bay hospital.

Dear februaryfe83,

Thank you for taking the time to provide valuable feedback concerning the online contact details for Jurien Bay Health Centre. I can confirm you are right. When you use Google search, the phone number for the GP Medical Centre next door has been linked to the Jurien Bay Health Centre.

The 'Health Direct' website has the correct information for our 24/7 Health Centre, which is 23 Whitfield Road, Jurien Bay Tel: 9652 0200.

I have asked the Jurien Bay Health Centre administration team to investigate and ensure the correct contact details are posted to the right health facility as soon as possible. I have also shared your story with the St John Ambulance Regional Manager to ask Jurien Bay local volunteer crews to provide further assistance as needed should this type of incident re-occur whist the issue is being addressed.

I apologise for the inconvenience to you and your family, particularly when trying to access timely medical treatment for your child.

Thank you for bring this very important issue to my attention. Should you wish to discuss the incident further please call me on 9 690 1315.

I hope your child has recovered well from their recent medical episode.

With best wishes

Trenton
