"ER visit"

About: St George Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I waited 6 hours in emergency in agony and it seemed that no one cared. Nurses walked by and didn't even look at me. What an uncaring unprofessional place in my opinion. In my experience, it's off-putting to be there and everyone I saw was angry. I believe patients wait hours to see a doctor and I felt being there was a waste of time

There was one staff member I think shouldn't be a dr as they had no apparent compassion or had any solutions.  In my opinion, the nurses I saw laugh at patients in pain and don't assist.

I believe St. George hospital has declined in supporting people to get better. What a shame that, in my opinion, people needing medical care aren't welcome nor helped but made fun of. After waiting 6 hours in ER,  I came home worse than I was when I went to the hospital.  Beautiful building but to me, it's miserable.  I felt humiliated and not welcome.  Not a welcoming place in my experience.

Dear wearingqk79,

Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent visit to our Emergency Department. I was very disappointed to read of your experience, that you felt ignored and that our ED was an uncaring and unprofessional place. It must have been very frustrating to find that staff were angry, lacked compassion and did not have any solutions for you.

We endeavour to provide compassionate, patient-centred care to all our patients, so it was very disappointing to read that this was not your experience. I apologise for the long time you spent waiting and for the poor experience you have described.

I would ask you to reach out to our Patient Experience Manager, on 9113 2687, so we can investigate your feedback further.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Darcy
