I was really happy with my birth. Having gestational diabetes on insulin, I feel I was constantly told I’d have a big baby and likely a caesarean, I was wrapped that I was able to have a vaginal birth.
The positive birth program gave me the confidence that my body is capable of birthing a baby however I wanted. I wasn’t anti caesarean, if it was required and it was the best option for the baby and me but I really wanted to at least have the opportunity to try for a vaginal birth and so glad to have had the experience.
I felt so empowered and I think that was definitely a reflection of the course. One funny thing that stuck with me purely because I am a cat lover, was I recall when Tiff was explaining a comparison on how cats give birth, they just go into their own little space and get the job done. Their body knows what to do!
The midwives were amazing during the birth they were so reassuring and there was no mention of a cesarean section at all. (I think I had about 3 different shifts worth) and they were incredible when we were re-admitted due to my baby having jaundice and needing to be put under the billy bed.
I ran into Tiff during our stay while my baby was in special care and she also saw me at a home visit so it was really nice to be able to connect to her after taking the courses she ran online.
Thank you so much for offering this course, it was so helpful and I believe made such a difference having the knowledge and resources available prior to birth.
