When I first arrived at emergency, I recall they didn’t have any beds so I was left on a chair unsupervised alone. After about 30 minutes I was given a morphine shot directly in my stomach which did not do anything to alleviate the pain.
After I had been at the hospital for around an hour, a wonderful nurse Emily got me a bed, and some much needed pain relief - Emily had just begun her shift so I think it was change over. After I was in a bed I got amazing treatment from the nurses and doctors, received a CT scan and was quickly diagnosed with a kidney stone by Dr Katherine (Katy).
Sobia the nurse also took amazing care of me and everyone ensured that my anti-nausea medication and pain medication was working. I went up to the ward and was with DJ the nurse who was incredible. So professional and attentive and making sure I drank water. Apart from my first hour at Sydney Hospital, the care I got was very high and I felt very cared for.
