"Maternal Child Health Nurse"

About: Wonthaggi Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

We had a positive experience with a Bass Coast Health employee, a Child Health Nurse named Kathryn. Kathryn went above and beyond to provide telehealth services for my infant child.

We were unable to gain local in-person health care or telehealth appointments due to appointment unavailability. We had been discharged from a children's hospital without a provided follow up care plan, and without advice on medical points of contact (of note, our child was admitted to this children's hospital following an acute bout of croup and was Covid positive).

Kathryn provided us with appropriate education, support and reassurance which I felt was a primary missing link after the hospital visit. Kathryn advised us about the follow up care support available through the children's hospital, which we were linked in with the following day. Kathryn linked us in with a local Nurse Practitioner who provided a care plan and medication prescription through a telehealth appointment.

Dear Orange22,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback during these busy times for you. Kathryn is an excellent Maternal Child Health nurse and her passion is to provide the best possible care for mothers and their babies. She will be really chuffed to read your feedback and we are extremely lucky to have her lead our service.

I hope things are settling for you and your child.

All the best, Jan
