(as a parent/guardian),

My relative tried to attend their appointment at Bunbury Hospital. They were heavily pregnant and was refused entry to the hospital as they are unvaccinated. They had to stand outside in the heat for about 45 mins and wait for someone to come to them. My relative eventually had to call the relevant department and ask for someone to come as the member of staff at the entrance didn't seem to care.

It seems to me my relative was not allowed access to healthcare because of their vaccination status. My understanding was you had to wear a mask or have I missed something?

Thankyou for sharing your story with us regarding your relative's appointment. I am sorry that this occurred and we are working very hard with our Concierge team to ensure that all patients have access to care regardless of their vaccination status. We are streamlining our processes to reduce the waiting time at our Concierge and encouraging patients to come forward so that they can be screened quickly. We have also provided some extra seating under shade to accommodate when the weather is warmer.

In addition patients presenting to our hospitals are asked some Covid screening questions and asked to wear a surgical mask and only visitors vaccination status is requested.
