"COVID controls"

About: Box Hill Hospital

(as a service user),

I found the Covid precautionary protocols at Eastern Health lacking.

I went for a test at Box Hill and I went through a full check in process that was thorough, then when I got to my consult suite, there was a manky paper towel on the bed. I asked if it had been used and the staff member said yes, and asked if that was a problem - I said yes it was – then they told me I could change it and a towel was down there. The staff member said the cleaner is meant to do it but they are injured. On the wall, I recall there was a sign instructing staff to change paper after every patient.

Seemingly no cleaners, I feel the sector is clearly under stress and slipping on some key controls that I believe the private sector would be castigated for.

Dear Averge Joe

Thank you for this feedback on your experience when attending Eastern Health's specialist clinics at Box Hill Hospital. I'm sorry this was not possible and I too am distressed by what you experienced.

My plan is to provide your feedback to the Program Director who has oversight of Specialist Clinics to determine what changes we need to make so we can prevent this occurring again.

Aside from this part of your experience, I hope you received the consultation you came for and have a plan to move forward with.

Kind regards

David
