"I want to go home"

About: Logan Lodge

(as a relative),

1. Firstly I took my dad home for Christmas lunch with family. That afternoon, I asked him if he wanted to stay with us for dinner, he said no, I want to go 'home'. He was referring to Logan Lodge as 'home', it was lovely to hear him refer to his place at Logan Lodge as his home!

2. He (my dad) told me recently that he is so grateful to the girls at Logan Lodge, he said 'I feel they love me here!’ It is so obvious that my father feels cared for by everyone here at Logan Lodge. The nurses and other staff have been wonderful to my dad, and it is such a comfort to me knowing the he is content & happy!

Dear alpharb35,

What a wonderful couple of comments from your father. It is lovely that he considers Logan Lodge as his "home" and that he feels the compassion and care so strongly that the team provide. I know living in aged care can be very confronting and challenging for many elderly people and their families so your story is very special.

I am so honoured to be the nominated person to reply to such beautiful feedback. I had met twice this week with the nursing team at Logan Lodge- to talk with them and hear some of their ideas and this provided me with a first hand account of how they go about their work. I witnessed some of the love and considerate care they have for all the people who live in this home. I know that the compassion and care shown is also much wider than just the nursing team and that the food services, cleaning services, maintenance staff and volunteers all contribute to the care that people receive on a daily basis. Thank you for taking the time to write about your fathers feelings and observations of his stay in Logan Lodge.

I will share this story with the Logan Lodge, and indeed the whole of the Swan Hill Aged Care Team and I know they will all be as delighted as I am.

Kind Regards

Chloe
