"Disabled parking"

About: Derby Hospital Derby Hospital / General Practice Service

(as the patient),

I went for a GP appointment at the Derby Hospital. I get around on a wheelchair and upon arrival I found there are no disabled parking zones in front of the clinic entrance area. There was also a piece of about 90mm pipe protruding from the newly laid concrete driveway leading up to the existing ramp. After finishing my appointment I found a section of pipe alongside the driveway close to the protruding pipe. I placed the pipe in and it seemed to me the very dangerous trip hazard was nullified. I finish off here by saying the staff and doctor in the clinic were very pleasant and professional.

Dear squatch97

Thanks so much for taking the time to tell us what happened on your recent visit and identifying and temporarily fixing the pipe. Our Maintenance team will inspect the area thoroughly for anything leftover from the recent construction of the new Community Health building.

A work request has been lodged for a new ACROD bay close to the GP clinic and it should be completed in the coming days, thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We want all our services to be as accessible as possible for all our patients and visitors.

It might interest you to know that we also have a new ramp under construction to improve access to the GP Clinic.

Nick,

Thank you for that very prompt attention to the problem.

A new ramp for GP Clinic access would be good as long as the incline is not too great.

Cheers.
