(as a relative),

A relative needed a covid test, they were symptomatic. The huge notice at GRH said covid testing 10-3. They waited for the clinic to open as it said closed. It never opened! My relative rang GRH switchboard after about an hour who said well it should be open and gave them a Perth covid number to ring. They said well, if it’s closed, it’s closed, they don’t know anything about it! I believe there were 3 people waiting.

In my opinion, this is simply not good enough if they want people to be tested. I wonder if they are seemingly unreliable for 3 clients, how they will cope for 300.

Dear Polng33,

Thank you for taking the time to share your relative’s story on Care Opinion. I was concerned to read of the difficulties your relative faced in obtaining their COVID test and would like to offer my apologies to your relative and the other people waiting for the confusion and inconvenience.

Unfortunately, there have been periods when the separate COVID Testing Clinic has been unable to open for the expected hours of operation. When this occurs, we have tried to redirect testing to the Emergency Department however in your relative’s presentation we did not achieve this redirection. Please accept our apologies.

Thank you for the diligence in testing and I am pleased to advise that we have integrated the COVID Testing Clinic alongside the Emergency Department entrance with plans to extend hours as required. In addition, there is the Respiratory Clinic at Batavia Health which is an alternative testing facility.
