"Comprehensive care in action"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I attended ED with suspected fractured toes. Whilst this was a trivial injury, as a regular runner, I wanted to confirm the extent of the damage. I was cared for by the Fracture Care Team. One of the physios correctly guessed that I was a runner - they recognised that running was important to me and collaborated with me on goal setting to get me back running as soon as possible. As part of care planning, they ensured that I understood how to manage my injuries, and followed up with comprehensive written and visual information that was easy to understand. I was encouraged to contact them if I had any concerns, and I left feeling confident I'd be lacing up my running shoes soon.

Dear Midhope,

Thanks for your lovely Care Opinion. The level of care you describe is exactly the patient-centred, collaborative and communicative care we strive to provide to all of our patients. I was delighted to read your account of your experience. I have asked that the ED director team share this with their staff, particularly the Fracture Care team, with my added personal thanks and “well done”.

Hope you are out and running about very soon.

Kind regards,

Neil Doverty
