About: Bruce Rock Memorial Health Service / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I came to Bruce Rock Hospital and I recall one of the clinicians at Bruce Rock Hospital had difficulty understanding their patients, as it seemed they asked all the wrong questions and I needed to repeat myself 100 times. They came across as rude and didn’t seem to have a clue what they were doing and this made me feel very uncomfortable.

Dear uniformmz65,

Thank you for your honest feedback about your recent experience at the Bruce Rock Hospital. I am sorry you felt uncomfortable and that the staff were rude, that is not how we want patients to feel. I can assure you though, that the nurses at Bruce Rock are all very competent, but unfamiliarity with recent changes to processes as a response to COVID-19 risks might have contributed to the problems you faced.

I have discussed your feedback with the Health Service Manager at Bruce Rock Hospital and asked him to remind staff to be friendly and kind with patients. This is especially important now as our staff and patients need to wear masks which can make it hard to understand each other.
