"Bad experience"

About: Patient Assisted Travel Scheme - WACHS Goldfields

(as a service user),

Sadly, my recent experience with PATS was far from satisfactory. I found the manner in which the staff member communicated was extremely disappointing. I was shocked by the abrupt, dismissive tone, and seeming lack of care. I am concerned that other people may forgo important medical treatment due to what I believe to be legitimate claims being rejected, or simply because they are too worried to deal with the PATS staff.

Dear squatfw88,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am sorry to hear that your recent experience with our patient assisted travel scheme (PATS) staff was not to a standard where you were shown compassion and empathy.

PATS is there to assist country people during a vulnerable time, we take your concerns very seriously and are always trying to improve our services by providing staff with further training, can I encourage you please to contact our PATS coordinator Margaret Smillie on 9079 8071 or via margaret.smillie@health.wa.gov.au and she will be able discuss with you what occurred.

I appreciate that you have taken the time to share your concerns with me, this is a timely reminder of how important every role and interaction is throughout a patient’s journey.
