Waited 2hrs to see a medical officer who in my opinion, did not follow the usual protocols for treating a patient. The treating doctor has no name as they did not introduce themselves. When taken in we stood at the doorway of the examination room as they told us exactly what they thought, I'm assuming based on the triage nurse's notes. There was no examination nor were any recommendations given. I felt like communication was one way. We needed to know the seriousness of the condition and what to look out for; as well whether it was contagious and isolation was needed, however we got no guidance whatsoever.
I felt the service delivery from this Medical Officer was so poor on every level. That said we have been to SHDH ED on a few occasions over the last 6 months and the experience has been amazing, so this was very discouraging. To make things worse, I believe waiting times for GPs are 2 weeks so it's going to be difficult to seek help outside of ED.
"Terrible experience with ED doctor"
