My parent was in there for about 2 months and in my opinion, was absolutely miserable. I believe there were not enough staff at the transitional care section, and it seemed they were overworked and understaffed. To my knowledge, my parent was never taken outside and when I went to visit them, I could only take them outside twice.
For some reason after that, visitors could not sit outside with their parents. I asked a few times why this was so and I felt I got different stories from each staff member I asked. I felt my parent suffered greatly from this. I believe a person with dementia needs outdoor activity. It seemed there were hardly any activities within the facility and my parent was just stuck in their room pretty much all of the time.
In my opinion, this place actually made my parent's dementia and delirium worse. It was a 2 storey place and they actually moved my parent twice from upstairs to downstairs room. I felt that this once again made my parent's delirium worse. There was a very small dining room there but nothing to do. Based on my parent's experience, I really do not recommend this place for transitional care. In my opinion, it really is a prison.
