"Friend"

About: Mount Beauty Hospital

(as a volunteer/advocate),

My friend was not able to fulfill their own expectations about caring for themselves.

They were admitted to the hospital where the care was mostly fantastic, but I believe the food was dreadful.

Other than the food, the most astonishing part was that it seemed there was no assistance ie opening the milk pod, opening the butter container, opening the juice container.

As I understand it, the tray was placed and patient left to own devices!

Hello Friendinneed,

Thank you for taking time to provide this feedback.

I am sorry to hear that your friend was not provided with the assistance at meal times that they required.

We will undertake to raise the awareness of our essential service and clinical team members to be alert to the need for and provide assistance at meal times with food packaging items by sharing this feedback at our relevant staff meetings. Additionally we will table this feedback at our Food Services Committee meeting for wider organisational consideration and action.

Once again thank you for taking time to share your friends experience, the provision of person centered care is important to Alpine Health.

Regards

Leanne Kilpatrick
