"The wonderful team in the Rehab Ward"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / PB1W - General Rehabilitation Unit

(as a carer),

My mother stayed in the General Rehab Ward after being hit by a stroke for 3 weeks. Being in the hospital is no fun at all plus she cannot speak English, there is a lot of fear for her.

The team at the General Rehab Ward at Level 7 of Parkes Building West is wonderful and certainly makes it much easier for my mum. Special thanks to the nurse, Samantha, she has been very caring to my mother and very patient and helpful.

Jarrad, the OT is also another one of the team that I would like to give a big thank you to. He is full of passion, treats my mother like his grandmother and does everything he can to assist.

The team is wonderful and gives a lot of support to patients and families.

The only thing that is negative and certainly needs improvement is the bathrooms. I believe they are not cleaned as frequent as they should be. Often we found the bathroom very dirty and wet and ran out of supplies including hand wash and paper, in fact very disgusting. This definitely needs improvement based on my observation. Apart from the bathroom, my mother received passionate care and she was discharged in time for Mother's Day which was wonderful for the family!

Dear plusty66,

Thank you for taking the time to share with us your recent experience in our hospital. We are very grateful for your kind words of recognition of all our clinical staff who were involved in your care. We appreciate you taking the time to reflect and share with us your observations of the high care standards you were given. We always encourage our staff to provide the highest standards of excellence and your experience is a great testament that we are providing compassionate and empathetic care to all our patients.

I am sorry to hear that the conditions of the bathrooms were suboptimal, I have passed your observations to the cleaning department manager, who will ensure the cleaning is attended on a more regular basis.

We are delighted to read how impressed you were with your experience and how grateful you are for the staff's dedication and professionalism. We will make sure that your kind words of gratitude and appreciation are shared with the relevant teams and in particular the individuals you have highlighted.

I hope your mother's recovery is ongoing and she is doing well at home.

Kind regards,

Natalie
