"Visiting Emergency Dept"

About: Warren Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I'm a type 2 diabetic that severely burnt my toes with scalding water. The initial visit to the ED department was a great experience, the nurse was lovely. However, when I booked my revisit appointment to have the dressings changed I was made to wait over an hour to be seen even though, as I understand it, there was not one person in the emergency Dept and I could plainly see the nurses seeming to stand around talking. Was not very happy with the service due to why book an appointment at a specific time if you are not going to be seen then?

Dear handsetnx67,

I hope that your recovery from your burn injury is progressing well. I am pleased to hear that your initial visit to Warren Health Service met your expectations and provided timely treatment.

I am sorry to hear that your subsequent visit for treatment did not meet your expectations. Communication between our staff and outpatients is important on making the appointment booking and whilst waiting in the department to ensure that all parties are informed and I have requested the admin team review this. It is important to be aware that outpatient bookings, although made for a set time, are dependent on the activity in the emergency department.

I am sorry that this was not your experience on this occasion. I am appreciative of your feedback as it allow us to continually review our processes with you as our consumer being foremost in this.

Please don’t hesitate to make contact with me Justine Kelly 0427901242 should you wish to discuss further.

Kind Regards,

Justine Kelly | DoN - HSM Warren & Blackwood Hospitals
