"My opp"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Surgical Ward

(as the patient),

Had a date for an opp that got put off for a few days due to no empty beds. Go early so as to get my rat test done, go in had every thing sorted out by the wonderful staff there waiting for over an hour dressed & ready to go in only to be told that there are no beds again! In my opinion, people could think we are in a 3rd world country not Australia. Based on my experience, what a joke!

Dear antliaqe57,

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at Bunbury Hospital. I sincerely apologise that your surgery was again postponed and that this occurred so late into your stay with us. We are currently experiencing a high volume of activity throughout our hospital including emergency surgery presentations which can impact on our ability to perform elective procedures. For any proposed cancellation we undertake a thorough assessment and approval to ensure that any cancellation is undertaken safely. We are sorry for the inconvenience and distress that this caused and will work hard with your surgeons’ rooms to secure another surgery date as soon as we can.

So that we can improve our service I would be very grateful if you could contact me so that I can learn more about the details of what happened. My name is Ceri Elliot and I am currently working in the role of Director of Nursing and Midwifery at Bunbury Hospital. If you are happy to reach out and talk to me, please call me at a time of your convenience on 9722 1422.

Yours sincerely,

Ceri Elliott

Acting Director of Nursing and Midwifery
