"Fantastic midwifery programme and care at King Edward Memorial Hospital."

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

We were assigned Mel as our primary midwife. From the very beginning, we loved our experience as a part of the midwife programme. Even when we couldn’t see our assigned midwife, the replacement that we met with was always incredibly helpful, professional and knowledgeable. We always felt like we were supported and informed. Having access to a midwife meant that we felt like we were able to speak to someone at any time about any concerns that we had.

On a couple of occasions I went into hospital for monitoring, and each time my midwife met me there as an extra support. I cannot speak highly enough of the service that we received, and the care that the midwives showed during my pregnancy and birth. I would 100% love to be a part of the midwife programme for my next baby, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a personalised and supportive birth experience.

I also really appreciated the follow up care that I received, in particular with breastfeeding. Mel even brought out the breast pump from the hospital which absolutely saved me when my milk came in and I was having so many issues with pain and engorgement. It is a fantastic programme which hopefully can be made available to more women in the future.
