"Care escalation"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I was transferred to King Eddie’s in early hours. I had been met with a seemingly rude doctor who told me we won’t admit you, only can thing we can do is for pain management. I had said admit me.

The next day my friend came and we had a really good plan and I had an amazing Gynae who had came up with plan for getting my Gynae referral to an urgent referral. After then I felt everyone became extremely rude to me.

The Gynae had said something else is going on and came up with a plan to be transferred to another hospital that had the specialists that I needed. The doctor then ended their shift and I had another one. At this point they misunderstood the plan and believed I was seeking an admission for a lap which I told them multiple times I just want to be transferred to a hospital which can help (with gastro specialists) they still let bringing more and more doctors / Gynae to tell me I won’t be admitted to KEMH and won’t be getting lap. Which I again said I’m not wanting a lap just a transfer.

I said I will go to another hospital can you please organise me an ambulance patient transfer as I’m dehydrated and dizzy/faint. I recall they had said that ambulance transfer is only meant for very sick people. I then called up patient transfer and they informed me the hospital can’t do it they just have to give me the paperwork to sign exactly how they did it at the initial hospital. They refused to do it and said if I want an ambulance transfer to go out the front call the ambulance.

I then did a care call as they are supposed to escalate if your getting worse (my pain was severe at this point and I just want to go to a hospital that could help me) the care call later was extremely rude in my opinion, and had said they know my story and they will not be getting me an ambulance as they are need for life threatening patients only and I was not. I said ‘so you think nothing is wrong with me then‘ I recall they replied that was not what they said. They were hanging up now. I ended up having to Uber to a hospital dizzy and in pain shaking in the Uber.
