"Heart failure"

About: Armadale Hospital / Intensive Care Unit

(as a relative),

Recently my husband was rushed to ED at Armadale Kelmscott Memorial Hospital with a suspected heart attack. He was moved to ICU the next morning with heart failure caused by prolonged, intermittent Atrial Fibrillation (he wasn't even aware of the AF). Due to the heart failure, his kidneys shut down. The specialist in ICU, Dr Yves, decided to put my husband on a special form of dialysis for three days as well as a special infusion. I believe this saved his life. After a couple of weeks in ICU he was moved to the Rehab Ward where he remained for a further 3 weeks. He has been home for 10 weeks and although he needs palliative care, we are delighted that he's still with us.

We're looking forward to celebrating my husband's birthday in September!

We're so grateful to the team of fantastic doctors, nurses, physios, etc at the hospital, especially the staff in ICU. Words are not enough to describe the treatment given to my husband - professional, prompt, dedicated, considerate, positive, caring, empathetic, state-of-the-art, inclusive - simply the best!
