"Birth story"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

My daughter was born at 7:24pm and it was a spontaneous birth with no pain relief. Jess and the midwife team gave me the confidence to birth the way I had hoped, after my first birth was an induction, I really wanted to be able to have a natural birth the second time around. I was able to labour in the comfort of my own home, after a long shower and increasing contractions, we quickly drove to the hospital and all the staff we met were very welcoming, caring and supportive until Jess arrived shortly after. When I arrived to the hospital I was fully dilated and my daughter was born quickly, soon after.

I am grateful to Jess for her consistent care and advice, particularly during covid and uncertain times where a lot of the consultation was via video calls. I was told I might be induced again due to a bigger baby, however Jess and her team respected my wishes to have a natural labour and birth. Jess recommended natural ways to induce labour and she allowed me to have the birth I had hoped for. I am very glad I was able to utilise the midwifery program again this pregnancy and birth and would certainly advise patients to use this service if its available to them.

Thanks to the staff involved at King Eddies - my family and I appreciate all the support in helping us welcome our second baby girl. We adore her and love her so much already.
