"Bunbury ED- you were awesome"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I have injured my back and I am waiting to see a Neurosurgeon as I have 3 bulging discs and a compressed nerve.

I have been managing the pain at home until recently, when I woke up in agony, and my pain tablets did not provide any relief at all.

My husband got me into the car- that was very difficult- and helped me into ED, where the start of the most positive and amazing service began.

From the wonderful triage nurses, who got me into a bay as soon as they were able. The Consultant I saw very quickly was very thorough and sympathetic and ordered stronger pain relief immediately, and ordered a CT guided procedure for better ongoing relief.

All of the Nurses in ED and the Short Stay Unit, provided me with the highest standard of care they could give, and I am very grateful for their kindness and expertise.

The morning RMO and Consultant were also amazing, and I have been discharged currently at the time of writing this, pain free with a plan whilst I await my appt with the Neurosurgeon.

The Ward Cleks and PCA staff were also lovely and everyone went out of their way to ensure this stressful time was made easier.

I won't mention any names- as I will miss some, but thankyou to everyone I dealt with for being so amazing.

Dear Queen Bee,

Thank you so much for taking the time to feed this back to us.

I am so glad that your pain is gone (hope it's still the case); it is pretty awful being in constant pain and clinical staff are always glad if we can help to take it away.

I hope that your pain stays away, and that your appointment comes soon.

Kind regards,

Dr Steve Hartwig

Emergency Physician, HOD, Emergency Dept
