"Skiing Injury"

About: Bright Hospital Northeast Health Wangaratta

(as the patient),

I was involved in a skiing accident at Mt Hotham. My injury on the snow required me to be attended to by Mt Hotham Ski Patrol. This amazing team of highly trained and caring team of Ski Patrolers provided 1st line treatment and management of my injury, and then transferred me to the Mt Hotham Medical Centre, where again I was treated in the most professional and caring manner by the doctor and nurses on duty. It was determined that due to my injury, I needed to be transferred by ambulance to Wangaratta Hospital.

The members of the Victorian Ambulance Service that transferred me from Mt Hotham to Wangaratta Hospital where also outstanding in the level of care and compassion that they provided me with on this journey. After spending just under a week in Wangaratta Hospital, where it seems to me I witnessed first hand the shortage of nursing staff and the stress which they subsequently working under I was transferred to Bright Hospital. This transfer was facilitated by the ground crew of The Royal Flying Doctor Service, and again the care during this transfer was excellent.

Upon arriving at Bright Hospital, I was welcomed in to the hospital by a warm and friendly team. During my week's stay at Bright Hospital, the whole experience was as positive as it could have been. Without exception, every member of the team I dealt with at Bright Hospital were exceptional. The clinical care from the nursing staff was professional, caring and empathetic, along with that of the allied health team. The catering and cleaning team were also warm and engaging, and did a great job of making my stay as comfortable as possible. The administration - reception team were also most helpful and professional in their manner. The medical supervision of my care by the doctors from Bright Medical Centre was also provided with professional care, compassion and communication. During my "two week misadventure" after my skiing accident, this remarkable group of individuals all helped to make my hospitalization and recovery the best experience it could have been under the circumstances.

With my thanks, woodpigeonjz83
